No seems to be a long forgotten word for most people, but when you give a long and detailed explanation for why you won't help me instead of just saying no, you waste my time.
Some of the excuses we got were "legit" and some were obvious lies, but all excuses were written down on Aaron's phone. And then, this year, he calls me and says
"Um, you remember that list?"
I said "Yeah..."
"Um... I deleted it on accident."
Oh well! Not everything can go my way! Here are the excuses that were so outrageous that I remembered them.
1. I forgot my wallet today (We were outside a grocery store... And we were asking them for food, so I don't have cash is also not relevant)
2. I'll catch you on the way out. Some people who said that were legit, but most people just snuck out the other side of the double-sided entrance, so we sent scouts to block the other side too...
3. A man came up to us and we asked him to donate food or money, here was his answer.
"Oh, boy scouts! I think it's great that ya'll are boy scouts! My brother made eagle and I was a boy scout..." (slowly begins to back up toward the automatic door) "Keep on going boys, all the way to eagle." (he's now inside...) "Ok... Bye boys."
He did not donate on the way out btw.
4. We suspect this happened to use more than once but we only had proof once.
A lady began walking towards us and we (like the leaches that we are) swarmed to intercept her.
She pulled out her phone and began to talk "Heeey girl! Yeah I'm at the store."
But as we moved away (like the polite, swarming leaches that we are) I saw her screen... It was on the alarm function. As soon as she got inside she turned off her phone.
5. I don't support the Boy scouts... Well I did want honesty
6. No, I'm good. (You got the no part right, but if you were good... You would donate)
That's all the best ones, we had a total of 30+ though so that was a bummer.
Catch you next time Y-time.
I'll comment on my way out.
